New York indie artist d4vd performed at Stubb’s Waller Creek Amphitheater in Austin, TX as part of the Withered 2025 World Tour. Bryant Barnes, the Texas-born contemporary R&B musician who is featured on d4vd’s single titled “I’d Rather Pretend,” opened the show with smooth vocals and melodic, emotional sonics.
The stage production was both enchanting, adorned with vines and flowers lined against the walls, while also playing into the “withered” aesthetic by having them be shades of muted green and pastel yellows and whites. d4vd kicked off his performance with an explosive entrance, decked out in Labubus and Chrome Hearts from head to toe for – as he put it – the “performative male gaze.” He proceeded to play hits like “Crashing,” “Always Love,” and “This Is How It Feels.” He also played classics like “Romantic Homicide” which were complemented by amazing lightwork from the lighting. One thing to note is d4vd’s dedication to his fans: even though fans were asking for their favorite songs, he explained that the tracklist is tied to the light production so he has to stick to what was already programmed. Still, however, he checked with his band to see if it’d be possible to do an acoustic cover of “Atomic,” which he delivered on for his fans.
d4vd’s performance in Austin shows his versatility as both an artist and live performer in the alternative and rock scene, leaving his fans looking forward to when he’ll visit the Heart of Texas again.
